As a Raw Material Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in assisting, supporting, organizing, administering, and maintaining various Corporate Environmental Health & Safety Programs. Obtain and maintain accurate information on raw materials, intermediate products and finished goods from Safety Data Sheets.  Your expertise in raw material management will directly impact our product quality and overall efficiency. Specific Responsibilities:

Develop and Maintain Corporate SDSs and Product Labeling Programs:

  • Manage Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library for Sika Corporation raw materials.
  • Generate Intermediate and Finished Product SDSs for all products manufactured in or imported to the United States as needed.
  • Generate regulatory label warnings for products sold to industrial, commercial, and consumer markets.
  • Distribution of labels, SDSs, and product warning information/data to other Sika member companies.

Corporate Raw Material and Product Regulatory Management:

  • Assist and support various areas of Environmental, Health & Safety as requested.
  • Provide direction and regulatory support for US products exported to other countries.
  • Maintain regulatory information about raw materials, intermediates, and finished products concerning the classifications, labeling, packaging, and transport of products as well as ecological, toxicological, and safety information in the EHS module of SAP
  • Reviewing objective evidence to verify regulatory compliance.
  • Review and approve new raw material and product introductions including hazard assessments.
  • Reviewing and responding appropriately to customer material information requests
  • Monitors current legislative changes initiation of necessary actions and communications about changing chemical regulations.
  • Support management in interpretation and implementation of federal, state and international EH&S regulations such as TSCA, Packaging, REACH, 49 CFR Part 172, IMDG, IATA, Cal Prop65, EU RoHS, Hazard Communication.
  • Communicate safety-related issues through memos, safety newsletters, on-site meetings, and through the disbursement of relevant publications.

Qualifications/Experience/Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, environmental, industrial or chemical engineering, or related field is preferred but not required.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Some travel may be required
  • Self-motivated and self-starter
